Before we ask them anything we have to know the story behind the name. “Miga derives its name from Mithi (Sweet) Garaari, which essentially means “Zidd” (persistence). The name is a way of expressing one’s persistence to have sweets and ice creams, when they want to. By shortening MithiGaraari to Miga, we arrived at a catchy version of this expression”.

Miga.In is founded by Mukat and Manish from Punjab, who had the entrepreneurial zeal right from their college days at the prestigious Thapar University. “We had discussions about our dreams of entrepreneurship in college canteens, that was where this journey began. Unlike so many stories that fade away in the quotidian run of ‘Life’ post-college, this one blossomed. As fate would have it we ended up in the metropolis of Gurgaon and saw the opportunity to do something of our own. The brainstorming sessions began and we worked to convert our ideas into practical applications.” They began by delivering fresh juices at gyms and parks, in the morning and evening hours. “While it worked only in the trial stage, the feedback and consumer interaction we received was invaluable, and a great learning experience. We then started working on our idea of ice cream delivery.  As the product is perishable by nature, we worked towards ensuring an effective delivery service. We came up with a revolutionary bag to sustain the temperature of the ice cream. Once that was done, we began our adventure which has led us today to our venture Miga.In, a one of its kind ice-cream delivery service.

The team elaborates on some of the challenges they faced setting up this venture. “The first challenge, as we mentioned before, was designing the special bag for our delivery service. We tested different materials and did trials with various bag shapes. We finally settled on our current design which is practical, easy to use and carry, and economical. Miga.In uses a special material to ensure that the ice-cream remains as it is when it reaches our customers. It has been so effective that many customers have demanded Miga bags for their delivery of ice cream family packs & cakes.”

The team also tells us about how it takes time to establish trust and support with the suppliers. “Challenges like inventory concerns were next on our list. Miga.In being a new venture and a unique service- we found that the suppliers were not very forthcoming. Slowly we worked on gaining their trust. Now we have established ourselves in the terrain of ice creams, but we are not stopping there. We hope to keep this momentum as we move ahead with baked good, frozen yogurts and more.”

The venture also had to come up with alternate options when plummeting temperatures were not making ice creams a favourite among everyone. “As we started with ice creams we witnessed an exponential figure in our sales up until November last year.  Once winter began we saw a drop in our sales. This taught us to cater more products & varieties suited to the cold season. We added sandwiches and salads to our menu to address this issue. We are in the process of adding more snack options to our menu. Do keep an eye out for the updates.

Despite all the challenges the team has reasons to have their own celebrations with the response they have gotten so far- “Miga.In gained the consumer’s trust almost immediately. We have a 4.6/5 on our Facebook page along with more than 5200 likes. We have successfully served more than 1200 customers in all of Gurgaon in this short time. While we get new customers almost every day, our repeat customers have been the source of our strength and motivation to become the trusted brand we are today. Miga.In has been continuously getting requests to venture in Delhi and Noida, which is on the cards for us. Cocoberry, Scoop and Sticks WhiteCub, Hokey Pokey and many others have approached Miga.In to include their products on our web chart.

Miga.In is on its way to become the one stop solution for all dessert lovers. As they point out, ice creams are available everywhere, but people often have to settle and choose among the available options.  “We want to create a platform to sell ice creams of all brands and flavours. We found that it was an issue faced by many ice cream lovers where they would not find their favourite flavour. Hyper local forums or platforms do not cater exclusively to dessert lovers and we want to bridge this gap via Miga.In. Gurgaon city has a huge potential market and we are confident that we have discovered a market for our services.

We plan to include bakery products, sweets, famous local desserts, frozen yogurt and a lot more! We are planning to expand both geographically and in our product offerings.”
